Phoenix Whites
Am I going to sit here on a Friday night and write some words about a kit launch video? Of course I am, because what else would I be doing?
Say what you like about Bolton’s newest offering, but it’s a homage to the all white kit from the 2005/06 season. When you see that shirt, you cast happy thoughts back to Gary Speed, El Hadji Diouf and Jay Jay Okocha.
People outside of our fanbase probably won’t realise that and will just call it a crap kit, but as long as it’s white and it features a Bolton badge then it makes no odds to myself personally.
Does the sponsor having green text as opposed to blue really concern me? No, because as long as we win games then that’s all that truly matters. Plus, I’m still on a major high from last Sunday, so I can’t find it in my heart to be even partially negative.
Plus, the kit is actually rather nice.
We are truly blessed at the moment, and this video leaning heavily into Phoenix Nights just amplifies the good vibes surrounding the club right now. Leaking a picture of Thierry Gale in the shirt on social media, to then use that as part of the narrative within the video is some Christopher Nolan-esque storytelling.
For years this club had lost its way, and then Sharon Brittan found us.. or rather we found Sharon Brittan. It was a long road back from the brink of administration, but every single year under her leadership has slowly but surely brought this wonderful club closer back to what it once was.
It’s so important that we never forget our history, or even something that might be perceived as a bit of a laugh by featuring a Brian Potter lookalike in a kit launch video, but for Bolton Wanderers it just works.
This club just can’t miss at the moment. They hit on their manager, they hit on the right owner, they hit Stockport for 4 goals at Wembley. They’re pitching the perfect game and it feels so, so good.
Can we just keep these immaculate vibes forever? That would be very much appreciated.
Bolton Wanderers will never die, just like Clubland.
